Hi,
What is the best blog writing software for the Mac (besides TextEdit ;)). I am looking for something to the equivalent of Windows Live Writer on the Windows side.
Thanks.
 
Have you found anything? I just trid Windows Live Writer on my work machine today, and I love it. Id rather not use a virtual machine just for that. If anyone know of a good comparable software, please post.

Not yet. But maybe I will try Blogo as suggested above. Windows Live Writer is great, that's for sure. I think even a hard core Mac user would appreciate it.

Yep, many hardcore Mac users love it.

So far this is the list of software that I have found:

- MarsEdit - http://www.red-sweater.com/marsedit/
- MacJournal http://www.marinersoftware.com/sitepage.php?page=85

Ive only tried MarsEdit, just installed it. Compared to Windows Live Writer, I dont like it.
 
I tried MacJournal and MarsEdit - didnt really like either one of them.

I've also tried Journaler - linked to my blogger account. also clunky.

Not associated with blogo at all, but i just messed with it some more, i really like it. 21 day trial, full featured, so you can try it.

The only thing that keeps me from Blogo is that I heard you cannot save drafts locally. Is that true?
 
I've never looked into blogging software. What are the advantages of using a local app, over something like Blogger or WordPress?

I think the key advantages are:

1. Local blog writing -- don't need to be connected to the web to create a blog post and then you can upload your post later when you are connected

2. A better user interface than the web based offerings. Some are WYSIWYG, some are geared more towards programmers, etc.

3. Integration with multiple blog platforms. For example, many allow you to write your post and then automatically post to your Wordpress, Blogger, etc. blogs.
 
Blogo can save drafts locally now, and was just updated to support custom fields in WordPress.

The app also has a live preview with your blog's CSS, fullscreen editing, integration with Google Translate and Twitter as well as many other features.

stilll searching for a good blogging software

It seems that this topic is not that popular but I am still looking for a good program. Iblog's website is outdated so I guess it is dead. Maybe blogo is the way to go but I wasn't that convinced and I had a hard time getting my blogger sites into the thing.
Anybody any ideas?

Bumpety bump....

Any advance on Blogo in the intervening months? It's not bad but I find it a little bit clunky at times. Nothing I couldn't live with though.

Microsoft's Writer application is certainly more polished (come to think of it, so is the Wordpress application for iPhone)....

iblog has not been updated in 2 years! Not worth trying this.

The best blog writing software for Mac is Blogo that is totally equivalent to windows live writer but the only difference is that windows live writer is a freeware and blogo is not a freeware.Blogo allows you to save drafts offline, and also add images to your post.Its full-screen distraction-killing feature, that allows you to focus 100% on the writing, and less on the Tweeting and Facebooking.

As i have already mentioned in my previous post that blogo allows you to save your drafts offline that means it allows locally.It also provide distraction free writing.
 
Scrivener is a continuing delight. It allows the creative process to be appropriately chaotic, then helps you to put all the pieces together. I adore it. Another one is Fantastically. It is very useful, especially since it saves all Web pages, PDFs etc in on your hard drive, not in a proprietary format. I use it to keep track of Comments I make on blogs and forums, and email messages I write to my writing students.

There is no doubt that scrivener is a good software for writing purpose.I agree with you that it is a good software.I have heard about this software and i have always read the good reviews for Scrivener.
