Given that it's 2022, this really shouldn't be as difficult as it seems... but I am struggling to find a solution. Here is my preferred setup:
- Samsung laptop
- Mac Studio
- 49" ultrawide that supports 5k
- keyboard hotkey to switch between devices
- when switching, each selected device should share speakers, webcam, keyboard, and mouse
I have so far tried a Samsung S49A950UIN and a Dell U4919DW.
The Samsung doesn't have KVM and the USB-C input was defective, so I returned that. However, I really like the curvature of this screen.
Currently trying the Dell - it has a KVM, but it only supports PC so I lose the hot key functionality when switching over to the MAC. To switch back to the PC I have put a button about 4 times on the monitor. The KVM also doesn't support audio, so speakers are still a problem and the curvature isn't that eye-friendly (IMO).
If someone were trying to accomplish the above, what 49" ultrawide monitor and likely external KVM (as that seems the only way I cam going to get audio to work cleanly ) would you go with?
Thanks!
