According to an unverified submission, Apple sent out the following casting call through a major talent agency this week to star in an ad for a "new product":
"Apple is look[ing] for a man and woman in their mid-20's to film a demo of a new Apple product. They are not looking for recognizable faces or names, and ideally the person would be "average to mildly attractive with nice hands". They must also have the ability to play the guitar or piano at an intermediate level.

The shoot will take place in Hollywood sometime in the next 6 to 8 weeks. Please let me know if you have any clients interested in this unique opportunity.

Again, Apple is not interested in recognizable talent. The focus will be on the new product and not the person."
Apple recently shut down their 5th Avenue store to shoot a television ad for what was believed to be the 3G-capable iPhone.

Seems like we are definitely going to see "ONE MORE THING...." in addition to the 3G Iphone and the WWDC is really going to be land mark event in more than one way

But from this event it sounds like the new device has the capability to compose music.... or may be apple intends to do a Multi-touch Piano AD like the Windows-7 public demo which is very unlikely....

iTablet or :apple:Wiimote???

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

Asteroid? Finally?

Imagine applying to do something that asks you to be "average to mildly attractive with nice hands"....

On getting the job you're thinking.. Jeez. Thanks. Glad I'm not too attractive for you.

Well I have nice hands...

I have nice hands and can do multiple languages...
but in terms of mildly attractive........
......
......

Apple is focusing on Musicians?

Hmmm interesting.

Will be nice to see what comes out of this.

Maybe Garageband for PCs?

GarageBand for PCs? Lol that would never happen XD, it IS called iLife for a reason :p

people in their mid twenties, its either for a new tablet or an update to the Macbook Pro line, thats my opinion...hmm

The perfect WWDC

Steve announces the following,

-iPhone 3G with OS X 2.0 (I really could care less about the phone right now, but I know a lot of people are anticipating it, 2.0 will be good on my Touch)

-.Mac gets updated (probably going to be a name change but hopefully they focus more on the MobileMe for Mac [better services] than the MobileMe for iPhone)

-New 10-inch Apple Tablet

-Revision to Macbook + Pro (even if they just announce a release date)

-OS X 10.6 Snow-Leopard (hopefully Mac only, if they go PC I will be pissed)

I'm getting a $3,200 Macbook Pro next Friday so hopefully something happens :p

Well, for the "nice hands" parts... they could hire George Costanza. I think it would be nice to see an ad with that character. :D

May be I am unable think out of the square on a weekend but apple always keeps it product line very tight and for purposefull, niche products....

Only two products I can think of based on the description are:
  1. iTablet..... Which might be advertised as a Music device in one of its application.
  2. MBP with a multitouch flip over (k/b), glass lid instead of the traditional keyboard
  3. WiiMote concept based device/app for the iPhone Ofcourse such a Wiimote will be cabale for simulating fret board / piano.... or the iPhone (aka wiimote) can act as a touch-remote to control some garage band equivalent on Apple TV or apple-portables...

Maybe an ad for some apps for the iPhone and the app store? (kind of like the guitar and piano apps already available through jailbreak).

or maybe for a new touchscreen device? Well if they ask for nice hands it must be something to do with touchscreens don't you think?

If the casting call happened this week, there is no way it would be in the can and edited by WWDC.

Well, if they intend to just announce the device at WWDC and start shipping the product at a later date like they did with the TimeCapsule then the full throttle advertising campain wont be due for atleast another month... which would nicely lineup once the 3G-iPhone hype is settled....

someone failed maths...

I think that's three.

This is more likely to be one of Apple's Guided Tour videos than a TV ad. As to what they are guiding, who knows? The musical experience implies a GarageBand-style product, which really rules out the iPhone (unless they're planning something we really weren't expecting); this said if the casting call has only gone out this week it's unlikely that it will be for a product announced at WWDC - unless that product is announced at WWDC and released 6 - 8 weeks later.

What we saw being filmed at the Apple Store in NYC, that is likely to be for a product coming out at WWDC.

Also:

The email was sent using one of the Macbook's that had/have the bug where a letter was missing when typed:D
Meanwhile, are you using one of the MacBooks with a bug where they insert phantom apostrophes into your sentences? :p

I think that soon we are going to start seeing a different style of Apple ads, possibly akin to the latest Nintendo Wii and DS ads with people using the product in their environment. This is further supported with the filming at the fifth avenue store recently.

Kind of reminds me of some of the apple online seminars that feature GarageBand or other music capturing software. The ones they have are a tad old (if I remember correctly), so maybe they just need to make a new seminar.

That would explain the need to play the instruments. In the existing seminars they have people saying stuff like "Look how cool GarageBand is! Let's make a song. I'll just plug this guitar in here..."
