well thats exactly how my 3G look allready for several months since apple did an upgrade...

nothing new here...

aren't the icons dependent on the system version and iTunes version, respectfully? That is, does the version of iPod have any bearing on the icon set?

Yeah, with my 3G the icon had the buttons and everything on the desktop. Also before they came out with the mini, iTunes would differentiate between 1/2G & 3G when plugged in with different logos. This current icon does seem a bit plain compared to the 3G one...maybe it'll be updated with 10.3.5

It's the little things that make OS X so nice
