iPod 4G iPod skips to next song

Any information or help is appreciated. I have a 20GB 4G iPod that is 2.5 years old, and in the last week, it has started randomly interrupting the current song and skipping to the next song. It doesn't occur in every song and doesn't occur in the same spot of the same song either. This will occur whether I am walking with it, or sitting still. Any ideas?

Could be the drive playing up... Have you tried the 5 Rs of iPod troubleshooting?

I had a feeling that was the case. I guess it's a good excuse to order an iPhone, huh?
