4G, LTE and 3G

Hi folks,

I'm hopefully getting an iPad 3 this year (if it comes out) and I have queries about 4G, LTE and 3G. I was originally going to get an iPad2 with 3G in May so I've plenty of time to see if the rumours pan out. However, all the rumours seems to indicate the iPad 3 will have 4G and LTE (I'm not familiar with LTE) so would it be same to assume that the 4G LTE iPad 3 will be compatible for those of us in areas/countries that only have 3G?

Yes, LTE devices fall back to 3G when not in LTE coverage.

Most AT&T customers will not see real 4G for another year. It will take time for AT&T buildout of their network. In the mean time your ipad would use 3G or in my case 3.5G (H+).

Here in Tokyo when I don't have LTE around my mobile router switch to 3G. Works smooth ....
