This is not necessarily about what's next for the iPhone because we all know this will come someday but when the iPhone went from edge to 3G, browsing and downloading was far more useful as we don't have to wait so long.

But now we are soon going to go through a transition from 3G to 4G and I want to talk about what this means for all of us iPad/iPhone users.

Once 4G becomes standard and many places are covered by 4G I see it being a nice replacement over using your devices on wifi.

When I'm home my two devices switch from 3G to wifi because it's obviously faster but now that 4G is coming soon this will mean we can use 4G to watch streaming videos better, broadcasting through iPhone at more an ease, Watch Full HD YouTube videos without buffering, all this without worry that we need to be on wifi to do all this at a fast rate.

This will be great for the iPad users as it would make browsing on the iPad noticeably faster.

But don't forget the hardware upgrades! By the time we hit 4G on our devices we would have a beast of a hardware along with the 4G that really would make the internet faster.

What I am saying is 4G on an iPhone 4 would be pretty fast but if we have 4G on the 6th gen iPhone. It will be much much faster because of the higher specs.

I think it will make our devices just as fast as our computer with browsing and downloading. It will make the devices more usable because of the speed and quickness at getting things done. Heck it even brings more fun into the device.

imagine how it was on edge, how frustrating it was, and how great it felt to go to 3G.

This will be the same way.

Whilst your post is entirely true, the much more interesting question to ask is "when" and "what hardware will support". Though one would suggest to you that the two questions are somewhat inter-related -- the when will depend on enough hardware supporting the network. A network company has no incentive to upgrade if there isn't sufficient hardware to make use of the new infrastructure, it's bloody expensive to upgrade cell towers etc.

First of all Sprint has "fake 4G". It's all advertising gimmick.

True 4G starts out at a bare min. Of 100 mbs.

Thad why WiMax and HSPA+ will be used as a bridging technology to fill in the gap when true 4G arrives.

We may see a "fake 4G iPhone" in 2012. But I highly doubt we will see anything of true 4G speeds for at least 5 years.

But think about this. HSPA+ right with tmobile USA can go as fast as 21mbs. But real world speeds with the new G2 will get u around 5-7 mbs.

What I am worried most about is ping time. Cellular data ping time often exceeds 200-400 ms to ping. Thy number needs to be less than 100 to compete with standard home broadband.

U really only need about a 256kps connection to load 90% of webpages.

If u were to ask me what would I take (say a 2mbs connection with a 50ms ping time vs a 42 mbs connection with a 300 ms ping time for viewing standard webpages, I will take a 2mbs connection and a shorter ping time any day.
