does anybody feel the 4 GB data plan is enough for them? I might switch to it and do the hotspot to my ipad. The one question I have is.... Is the 4 GB data plan for both the iPad and iPhone. Meaning thy both have to share the 4 GB data? Or is the 4 GB only for the iPhone?

It's enough for me. I checked my past usage for my iPhone and I've been hitting a GB or less per month so that leaves me with 3GB for tethering alone which I know I will not use.

So both devices share the 4GB?

Im fairly certain your devices won't run off the same data plan. You'll need a data plan for your iPhone, AND a data plan for your iPad.

Yes they do which is why AT&T provides 4GB for $45 a month with tethering. Only way you need 2 seperate plans if you have a 3G iPad.

Im gonna do hotspot from my iPhone to iPad. So once my iPad is connected to my iphones hotspot will the usage of the iPad and what it does use the 4 GB of data? Or is the 4 GB strictly for iPhone while giving you acess to wifi for the another device?

No idea what your asking bro, if you have a 4GB plan, that's all you can get.

If you hotspot and everything your still maxed out to 4GB. So it's like a total of all the devices added. nom sayin'

I thought you were talking about a 3G ipad for some reason, now that I'm more understanding:

Your 4GB works like this:

Any usage that you undergo, is deducted from your 4gb total. Internet usage, downloads, etc, via Iphone come out of your 4gb. If you tether, then any data you use while tethering is also removed from your 4gb.

You get 4GB total between the iPhone and iPad for $45. Should be plenty unless you'll do lots of streaming video. I only went over 2GB on my iPhone once and i stream xm radio to and from work each day. Overage is $10 per GB.

Thanks for answering my question, I have unlimited right now. So still unsure about switching. I would only do it for my iPad. Just so I can use it on trips and stuff. And don't really wanna jailbreak my phone, if heard it can mess it up a bit.

After reading this thread I went back a year on my iPhone plan...the highest I went was 1.36gb ....so I took the plunge and signed up for the Hotspot. I have comcast high speed to go paying 40.00 a month so I am saving 25.00 a month woohoo.

It is hard to know unless we know exactly what you do

I use my iPad up to my ridiculous 2gb limit just about every month and could probably double it if I wanted.

So, for me it may not be enough

For others, I am sure 4gb is more than plenty
