4Gb Ram from 2011 iMac?

Hi folks

Would the 4Gb RAM (2x2Gb) out of my 2011 iMac be compatible with my 2007 MacBook 13"? Any idea how I could find out? I am replacing the iMac Ram shortly and it would be nice to be able to drop it in to upgrade from the 2Gb in my MacBook.

The 2011 iMac line uses DDR3 SO-DIMM (aka laptop) RAM.

The 2007 MacBook line uses DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM.

They are not compatible.

That being said, you can get DDR2 RAM dirt cheap online - you don't need to use Apple-branded RAM (and buying elsewhere means you'll get a lifetime warranty on the memory).

Dammit! Just read online that my mid-2007 MacBook is already maxed out with 2Gb

Your max is actually 3 GB. Either 1 GB + 2 GB or 2x2 GB.
