Video editing is far more than just playback. Try After Effects and the limited CPU and 4GB of RAM just won't cut it.
You may say that. But my 2 GHz Intel core i7 8GB 1600Mhz RAM 500MB/S SSD doesn't agree. It renders fine, but I have to wait 20 minutes (When AE has complex layers). But usually just 5 minutes for a 1 minute slideshow. Good enough for me.
Besides, the MacBook Air is faster than the 2011 13 Inch MacBook Pro - a Professional computer designed for these things.
