Is this possible?

From what I understand, HDMI will only support 30hz.

There are supposed to be DisplayPort to HDMI 4k@60hz adapters available at some point, but I have not yet been able to find them.

Without those, can I hope that my 27" Retina iMac can communicate 4k@60hz to a Samsung 55" 4k UHD television with just HDMI inputs?

Thank you in advance.

It will only allow as much as the weakest link of the chain allows.

HDMI 2.0 supports 4k at 60hz, but HDMI 1.4 only supports 4k at 30hz. What does your TV have?
