I'm not able to hit 4K 60Hz using said adapter (it's the newer A2119 version), despite other posts here and elsewhere saying it should be possible. I can only hit 60Hz if I choose the low res option, but then of course everything is blurry. Is this not actually possible with this adapter? There's the slight possibility that my HDMI cable is not up to spec, so I'm going to try a different one, but other than that, does anyone have any experience with this combination of equipment?

It should work just fine - the only thing i can think of is the cable.

Have a look at the ends on your cable and see if they say "HDMI High Speed" or just "HDMI". 4k/60 requires the second generation cables marked as 'HDMI High Speed' as the original ones can't provide adequate bandwidth.

Also, be sure your monitor/TV accepts 4K60Hz via the HDMI input. I only say this because I tried using the same adapter to plug my wife's computer (same as yours) into my Dell 4K monitor and I was only getting 30Hz... I was certain it was the adapter, but it turns out that the HDMI input on my monitor only accepts 3840x2160 @ 30Hz. The only option on my monitor is DisplayPort for 4K60Hz.

My cable does say "HDMI High Speed with Ethernet" but I bought it a good while back so I can't remember how "genuine" it may be. I'm going to try and order another legit HDMI 2.0 cable to eliminate that as a possibility.

It's an LG 32UD59, which allegedly supports HDMI 2.0 on its two HDMI ports. I'm going to try a different cable, and possibility a different adapter, and see what I get. Unfortunately I don't have access to another 4K display to test.

Odd - it should be working then. You've checked off all of the items.

The monitor is definately fine. The adapter should be fine if it's the model you quoted. The cable is marked correctly so should be fine, however it wasn't unusual when the 4k HDMI cables were introduced for cheap Chinese cables to be labeled as High Speed when they actually weren't.

FYI - this is exactly why i refuse to use HDMI adaptors and only use displayport. Displayport has been able to do 4k/60 for over a decade - it's basically impossible to find a DP cable or hub that doesn't support it.

There’s a specific setting that needs to be enabled in order to get 4K/60Hz over HDMI on LG displays. Look in the menu Picture/Picture Settings and enable HDMI Ultra HD Color.

Wow, that was exactly it! I guess I should RTFM more often, but I would have never thought to toggle that setting on my own. Thanks for saving me the hassle of swapping around a whole bunch of cables and adapters!
