4k at 30hz max?

I was considering getting a HDMI adapter for my 1440p monitor, but it clearly states at the product (of the adapter) page that it won't go beyond 30hz
(2016 mbp 15")

Is it true the the 2016mbp can't go beyond 1080p at 60hz?

If so, my rMB will drive a 1440p monitor @ 60hz through it with no problem at all so I'd be shocked if the new MBP can't!

The 30hz limitation may apply to Macbook instead. It is less capable of driving external displays.

HDMI 1.4 is limited to 4k at 30Hz. This is a limitation of the adapter, not of the 2016 rMBP. USB-C to displayport/ mini displayport will handle 4k60 without a problem.
