Any suggestions on what's the easiest and cheapest way to watch 4k HDR blu-ray content on the LG 5K monitor? Am curious what movies look like at this resolution on this monitor.

My guess is that they'll look very good.
You'll need one of the 3rd-party video applications that do BluRay playback.

4K blu-ray needs Kaby Lake and HDCP 2.2 because of DRM. Talk about a "bag of hurt." https://www.extremetech.com/computi...-ray-burners-pack-4k-playback-16x-burn-speeds

Thanks...after doing some researching, i've concluded that is indeed the case. I've also watched some of the compressed 4k videos on youtube - it's not particularly watchable on a MacBook Pro without touchbar (got the lowest end model). Will be upgrading to Kaby Lake once that's out and treat the frictional sale cost as just something i'd have to accept for jumping on the LG 5K deal (hope they don't drop prices too fast!)
