So I imported my 4K video clips into iMovie. Edited them and put a few transitions and titles & intro/out tracks.

When i go to "share" it allows 1280x720 as the highest resolution. It is just under 15 minutes long and the file is 1.4 gigs

If I change it to quality "Best" the file says it will be 8.34 gigs.

Either way i can't export in 4k.

Sharing direct to YouTube only allows 1280x720

BUT .....

When i select just a raw clip from my project files I can click on the Share and YouTube option and BAM I can upload in 4K... What am i doing wrong???

Does adding music, titles, transitions ... change any of my options to upload in 4K later?

Thank you for any input here...

PS ~ if it matters the camera is a Panasonic G7

Gonna go out on a limb, but try this. Back all your iMovie work up, first. Delete the app (iMovie on your iPhone) and then redownload iMovie. Mine said it was on the latest version and was not updatable. I could not save or export in 4k. Deleted and reinstalled and turns out theres a much nicer/newer/better/4k-enabled iMovie version. Boom.

Hope this helps!

Thanks but I am not editing on my phone. I am using iMovie on my MacBook Pro ... I did however still check to see that the version i am using is the latest, and it is.

Just odd to me that it will upload the raw clips in 4K but once edited it will not.
