I have OS X 10.10.2. I just need some explanations / clarifications.
So I have a 4k monitor. Native resolution is 3840 x 2160. Every thing looks tiny at this resolution. So what I did was I went into the display setting under system preference, and used scaled under resolution. I chose the middle option. With this option, OS X indicated "Looks like 2560 x 1440."
So what does this mean? Is the monitor actually running at 2560 x 1440, and that I've wasted my money getting a 4k monitor because I am running at a lower resolution?
To double check what resolution my display is running at, I played a 4k video using quicktime and pulling up the inspector. While display is scaled at 2560 x 1440, the inspector indicated the current size of the video to be of 2560 x 1440 while playing fullscreen. While the display is at its native resolution of 3840 x 2160, the inspector indicated the current size of the video to be of 3840 x 2160 while playing full screen.
