We have an Epson projector capable of doing 4K we plugged an HDMI into the 2017 13” MacBook Pro with touch bar it shows up as 4K in the display settings. But when I go to YouTube it only shows 1440p content. And iTunes doesn’t say 4K only HD
Any way to get past this

No you tube only supports windows that simple really. VP 9 is not supported in OS x. Netflix should work ok though.

Also it may be an issue with your HDMI cable it needs to be HDMI 2.0 for an HDMI connection to run 4K.

Isn't it ironic (and a shame) that Apple -- the computer company that pioneered the concept of a "graphical user interface" and became the computer to use for creating artistic and video content can no longer support a major video format...?

Ahhh so I’ll have to download chrome. What a shame. Oh well it was just to see the 4K before we get an Apple TV 4K and Xbox one x.
