I have an iPhone 12 pro max that I bought with 512GB figuring even with iCloud Photos (optimized storage on) I might need the space. Well with my moderate video use the actual photo library is only using 3-4GB of cache on the phone for what is a 80GB library in the cloud. SO this year I bumping down to a 256 13 pro max.

Here is what I wondering:

1) Does iCloud photos actually upload the full 4K60 Dolby Vision file to the cloud and if so once it does, when yo go to play it back later on the phone is it retrieving the full file? I did download a 4K60 DV file from the iCloud portal and the quick time stats do show 4K60 DV BT2020....so I THINK it does? I guess I am trying to make sure I am not making a mistake in thinking I don't need the 512GB of space since I am leveraging iCloud photos with optimized storage and my total used space is on 68GB with 3-4GB off that being used by iCloud photos. Am I missing something or not really retaining the full 4k60 DV video?

Apple Seems to claim that iCloud photos DOES retina the FULL original file, but is that for video too and does that work when you go to play a video that has not ben played for a while and the phone has to retrieve it from the cloud since I am using optimized storage?

2) I have an LG c8 and 4K ATV. When I first got my iPhone 12 Pro max, I could airplay 4k60 DV and the C8 airplay would see HDR. Now neither the C8 nor the ATV trigger the TV to go into HDR mode...did something change. I can't do it from my phone or MacBook pro.
