Long time lurker, first time poster.
Currently have a very functional MacPro 3,1 GTX680 4GB (Flashed). When I upgraded to Catalina using the Dosdude patcher, the DisplayPort stopped working. After a bunch of trial and error fixes, set aside the mac and moved back to a PC.
PC is a simple Dell workstation, using onboard displayport. I've got this displayport hooked up to a 40" TV using a active DP -> HDMI. With this cable setup I get 4K 60Hz on the TV. Its a Vizio 4K TV.
Coming back to the Mac, pouring over posts I find a random post about a dropped board ID post patch that bricks the DP. Worked my way through the post and got the DP working again. Here's the fix if anyone is interested ...

Now I tried hooking the same cable setup .. active DP to HDMI to Vizio 40" and the most I can get is 4K 30hz. Out of the back off the PC and straight into Mac.
Both video cards (onboard and GTX 680) are DisplayPort 1.2 from anything that I've read. When I plug the Mac into a regular monitor with a display port, 4k 60Hz no problem.
Why cant I get the MacPro to go 40 60hz on the TV? Do I need to move up from Catalina? Opencore to Big Sur or Monterey?
Thanks!
