I loved the ClearCam app on my previous iPhone.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/clearcam/id364930963?mt=8

In "enhanced" mode it really did a great job of providing larger images and greater detail. As a photographer, I was quite impressed with the results.

Sadly, it doesn't seem to be compatible with the 4s and it's 8mp camera. I've emailed them and they said they've not completed plans for the app moving forward :(

Does anyone have an alternative app that would increase details like their app provides?

I downloaded Perspectives, but it requires a completely still camera. Clearcam "aligned" the images and thus made hand-held shots possible.

Thoughts?

I just did and likely should have just gone with the free version as I just whized away $.99 The upres'd image looks like complete garbage. Man, ClearCam was so dang good.

The above apps is a rip. I had 1000% better results just importing the 8mp standard photo into Photoshop and matching the resolution of 16mp's using Alien Skin Blow Up.

Here are 100% crops for comparison.

  • Far Left: Standard 8mp image from iPhone 4s
  • Center: Alien Skin Blowup of original image to 16mp equiv.
  • Far Right: Don't waste your money on 16.0 mega pixels camera+zoom crappy app for $.99

I know I should have known better, but the ClearCam app that doubled resolution really stacked images so well that it actually worked very good for what it was.
