With my iphone 4, sitting at my desk at work, I would get 1 bar of 3G. Would not be able to receive calls or transmit any data. I would turn 3G off and be able to both receive calls and send data. As we all know with the 4S, there is no longer the option to turn 3G off. The 4S seems to sense that there is bad 3G coverage at my desk and switches to Edge with 5 full bars. I can make and receive calls, but not transmit any data. Attached is a screenshot of twitter trying to update. I updated it on wifi this morning and have been trying to update it since on edge. The time updates, but nothing else. Facebook does the same thing. Safari times out trying to load anything. Anybody have any suggestions.

You're using Edge, it's slow....you just have to deal.

Its not slow, it never updates. There are 5 bars on edge, it should update eventually. I've been using the iphone 4 and 3G before that on edge at work. I know how long it should take.
