Hi folks, I did a search but I can't find the answer to my question.

I have light bleed in my headphone jack, that is whenever the screen is on there will be lights coming through the headphone hole.

I know this is not the way it suppose to be, but I don't really mind except the random annoyance when using the phone and someone sees that light and think oh it's a defect.

My question is really can dust and small praticals an get into there and work their way onto the screen? I asked this is because what I think if there's light bleed in the jack means its not sealed properlly? Hence dust and small praticals can get in and onto the screen?

Thanks folks

This is totally normal for the 4/4S, nothing to worry about at all.
Dust doesn't get under the screen or anything like that, and it's not a defect

Can anyone else confirm this?

But my last 4s before this replacement doesn't "seems" to have it? I asked this because I know not all 4s's has this so this must be some sort of mistake?

Mine does not have a light bleeding out on my headphone jack. However, my iPhone 4 did but I wasn't bothered by it.

See not all has bleed. Does most has or the other way around?
I'm not worrying beside dust getting into it and then onto the screen.

I thought the same thing when I heard the camera lens rattling when I set the phone down or when I tapped the back of the phone. I went to the Apple store and tested all the floor models, which was at least 15 of them. They all had the same rattle near the camera. I suggest you do the same thing for your phone if you're that worried about what others think about your phone.

Well I'm not really that OCD but infact not all unit has bleed through headphone jack is telling me that something is missing. And I think my main concern is things gets into it.

You can buy dust caps to plug into the jack, they are usually made of silicone and you just push them in, I put one in my iPod to keep dust and water out.

This ^. Whenever I don't listen to music, I always have dust caps plugged in mine to prevent dust and water. One time, Apple Salesman asked me what it was as he never seen such thing and I told him that it is to prevent dust and water going inside. I also have a dust cover for my dock connector as well.

I know I can get caps for it but my question is if I am not going to use any caps, will that makes any difference to ones that doesn't bleed ? Water and dust wise..

So most doesn't have bleed thru headphone jack and some does?

All white ones bleed through the headphone jack and some black ones in high brightness settings do.

Ok folks, I've since checked over a few 4s. Guess what they don't really have the headphone jack bleed.

Now is there a way for me to overcome this OCD. I keep worrying that something is missing in where the light is bleeding ie seal or small parts.

If you keep shoving things into your jack hole, it could cause bleeding.

My iPhone 4S does display symptoms of a "bleeding jack hole." :D

Honestly though, I actually see it as a feature, cause in the dark it makes it easier to put the jack in the hole (TWSS ).
