There hasn't been an unl0ck for the 4 or 3GS in months, doubt it.

This can't be right, can it? I thought unlocking was one of the primary purposes of Jailbreaking.

At any rate, OP, the 4s jailbreak is still under development. We don't know when it will be released, if ever, but most likely it will be in a month or two.

So I'm forced to use the operator I bought the iphone from?

Yes.
If you don't want to why don't you get an unlocked 4S?

Yeah right.
Where do you get that month or 2 time frame? We might never even see an unlock for the 4S.

Lots of reasons to jailbreak besides unlocking that is a bonus though. But less importent since factory unlocked a easier to get. Even in the US now do some reaserch.

It isn't that hard to search if there's an unlock for 4s right?
Yes, you are force to use the operator that you bought the iphone from. You should know that when you bought it. If you don't plan to use it with the operator then you should of do a research before buying it.

complexcommunic: You obviously don't know what JB is. Stop making comments on something that you have no clue to.

Jailbreaking and unlocking are 2 totally different things.

If you read anything on the website, you will see that the jailbreak also unlocks the phone. I'm not really sure how that's done but that's what it says on the site. Reading is fundamental.

wow taking shots at one of the guys that has helped a ton of people in this forum. Applejuiced knows exactly what jailbreaking vs unlocking. You should at least read up on it yourself before calling people out. Jailbreaking and unlocking like being on a road trying too leave the country with no passport. I hope you don't need help anytime soon.

You're right - reading is fundamental: The quoted site says the following

We are currently working on the release to Unlock the iPhone 4s. Please subscribe and you will be notified as soon as it is posted! We promise!

Remember, if you are desperate to get an unlocked iPhone 4s, you can by them from the factory already unlocked

Nowhere does it mention that a jailbreak also unlocks the phone - they claim they will include the unlocking software with the jailbreak software (and make it clear they are separate things) but seeing as how they have neither at this point, there are zero guarantees about that

What carrier did you get your iPhone from? Verizon will unlock the SIM (for non-U.S. SIM cards) if you've been with them for at least 60 days.

I haven't seen a comment like this for a while, it really made my day.
