iPod touch 4th Gen vs. 5th Gen

I just noticed that Apple.com has refurbished 32gb 4th Gen for $179. Don't know if this is significant savings or their usual refurb price. My question is this: is it worth it for a $100+ upgrade to the 5th gen? I was looking for an upgrade in storage space from my current 8gb Touch . One advantage of buying the 4th gen is not having to concern myself with the lightning adapter.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes the iPod Touch 4G was laggy IMO on iOS 6 and the 5G was a big upgrade and noticeably faster and very smooth. Another good thing is that it comes in colors and the camera is 5MP+ a 4" screen.

I guess it is probably because the iPod touch 4G was already 2 years old and also because of technology advancements.

It doesn't really matter. The new connector is faster and more reliable.

All I can say is yes, it is worth it 100% the 5th gen is much better.

The screen is far better for one...it's the same as the iPhone and doesn't fade into nothing as you view it at an angle.

The Camera, processor, RAM - everything is better.

I must say lightning is much better at keeping dust out of the connector then the 30 pin connector. Too bad my dock doesn't work though

My experience has been stellar. Get one. The 4th gen is not worth it for anything more than $120 in my opinion.

New connector has nothing to do the transfer speed. Its the same.

For the OP, if you dont own an Iphone 4 or above. Ipod touch 5 is a good choice, camera is amazing.

Lightning connector still use the USB 2.0 technology according to their website. Speed is unchanged.

I meant that apple claimed that lightning connector actually makes the iPhone faster and charge more efficiently.

I know. The back part really s***s as scratches accumulate really fast. Another thing is that they are pretty old now and their specs are outdated.

I've got you beat. I'm still using a 2nd gen iPod Touch. I use it mainly at work to stream Pandora and an older version of Slacker Radio.

The 5th gen is a lot harder to repair in my opinion. Just look on ifixit. Also my 4th gen performs fine for my needs
