Do you think apple should give the 8gb/16gb (which ever one is baseline size) ipod touch 4th generation technology?

Do you think apple will? Because in the past they left the 8gb behind while upgrading the 32gb and 64gb ipod touches.

Answer the question and add information in.

I say yes and they should. i think they should because if they give cameras to any ipod touch they have to give them to all. I am not sure correct me if i'm wrong but is the 3rd generation 8gb the only one they left behind because if so then they should and probably will upgrade the baseline to 4g technology.

Well, it's hard to predict. If you look at it financially, if the 8/16 GB version is the same as the 32/64 GB, then it might not rack enough profit for them.

And for the past few years, the iPod touch/iPhone kept the lower model as the previous gen, while the higher models were the current gen, with nothing added to the previous gen. Clearly, they could add a front-facing camera to the iPhone 3GS, but it obviously never happened. I strongly believe they're gonna do this again this year.

Disappointing, yes. But I agree. Apple is very comfortable with this approach and they've been repeating it consistently. No reason they'd stray from this now. If you want the whole shebang, you'll have to step up to the mid-priced model. If you don't want all the bells and whistles, they give you a cheaper option.

In my opinion if they keep the 8gb then the 32/64 are gonna make the most money just cuz apps are getting bigger and people will have videos to take up space. i cant afford the highest generation unless i ditch insurance which i am afraid not to get because in my age group people like to borrow your ipod touch and "play" with it. I might just go with 32gb and no insurance. but they should at least reduce the 32gb price a little if they put in a 16gb because then people will go for the 16gb. i think they should lower it anyways tho.

I predict this:
  • 16GB 3rd gen - $199
  • 32GB 4th gen - $299
  • 64GB 4th gen - $399

They left an iPhone 3GS as the baseline with half the storage as the baseline iPhone 4, so I expect them to follow the same model with the iPod touch.

i don't think they'll have a 8bg...or even a 16gb this time
probably 36, 64, 120 gb's

I think theres a 75% chance of a 16GB 3G model, no 4G. I think Apple will do what the did with the 3GS. Make it a lower price, with half the capacity. so with a 32GB iPod touch 3G now being $299, I think it will be a $199 16GB model.

Agreed.

And does anyone have any idea where the 32gb 4g and insurance be the cheapest. i'm looking for a reliable place to buy a 32gb 4g ipod touch and get insurance with it.

Can't they have a 16gb 4g model but have it without all of the feautres of the 32/64gb model?

They should do it like this:

8GB or 16GB iPod touch 3G w/ more features than current 3G - $199
32GB 4G with all features - $299
64GB 4G with all features - $399
