I know many have battery issues (me included). I assume new Apple users (first time iP4S owners have little to compare battery life to if they didn't enjoy the awesome iP4 battery).

I'm in the middle of my first unscientific test of 5.0.1 to see if I have notice any improvements.

After you've had some time to experience the new software, please post w/:

1. Greatly improved battery
2. Slightly improved battery
3. No change
4. Slightly worse battery
5. Significantly worse battery

EDIT:
First hour of intense WiFi web surfing on 4S = 10% drop in first hour
On 5.0 I was losing 15% per hour.
I have to say this is a great improvement thus far, and brings me inline w/Apples claim on 10 hours of web browsing. Now for some standby testing!

Very disappointed at the moment. My iPad 2 battery life is 6 hours at full brightness... I updated to 5.01 and it still is exactly the same! Is anyone with an ipad2 getting 3.5 minutes for every 1 percent drop on full brightness?

I just updated to 5.0.1 on my iPad 2 so I can't make any determination about battery life. However, before the update I had 94% battery remaining. After the update, I had 95% remaining. Did this happen to anyone else?

Lol my battery was greatly improved! 4% every hour (medium usage) now down to 2% every hour!

5. Significantly worse. 35% drop in just over 3 hours with maybe 40 minutes of total use, most of which was SMS/iMessage. No web browsing, and a 3 minute phone call.

1 x 5 minute phonecall.

6 minutes Street Fighter IV Volt play time.

3 x YouTube videos @ 5 mins each (Apple product videos).

5 minutes of audio over WiFi using Home Sharing.

All done at full brightness, and now down to 93%.

Can't complain.

With ios5, om my iPad 2 the Keyboard was often laggy especially with safari. Switching between tabs was laggy as well, sometimes awfully laggy!
Now I'm with ios 5.0.1 and things seem to be back to ios4 level. Really happy! :)

It's wayyyy too early to tell about the battery life. You have to let the os settle in for a day or two then you can start judging it.

Its not dinner lol

I opted to do the regular update through itunes and not OTA, and I am noticing my drain isn't as severe during usage...standby has been the same for 6 hrs.

I plan on running it til it turns off the calibrate the battery again, but I am seeing good things.

I am not happy. Display names for incoming calls doesn't work... only number show up. This is painful.

The update hasn't been out long enough for you to tell.

Daveso,

You'll have to do a restore. That's happened to me several times before with other updates. Something has gotten corrupted between the address book and the caller ID for phone calls and messages.

Do a backup, then a Restore to factory settings, then restore from the backup you did. Seems odd you can restore from the bad backup and it will work but trust me, it has for me each time I've had to do it.

Good luck.

Crap what a PITA! Oh what makes it better is I'm at work and iTunes is saying it's going to take 90 mins to restore... :((((

That's my experience as well. Typing is back to 2010 speed. Battery life seems better, though I never had a problem before.

to tell you guys the truth guys i'm still on 5.0 (4s) and my battery is fine really!
i updated my ipad 1 so i can have the gesture thing, i didn't have battery problems either when i was on 5.0. People with battery problems should upload a screen shot from their battery usage... and than there's a lot more question, brightness,location,push,etc.. Than there's people who maybe didn't do a clean install... im really curious to see what usage time you guys get!

had to update over itunes.. never got OTA..

have 4s..

3pm 100%

530pm 74%

I haven't touched my iPhone 4S since I updated it at 6:30pm. Normally it would have reduced by at least 2%-4% just sitting there untouched.

Just now it dropped to 99% with 7 min usage 4hr 26 min standby. So standby at least has improved for me.

to early to talk about battery life. But I did like the OTA update. Took very little time and was done before I realized.
