5.1 => 5.1.1 with SAM Unlock

I currently have an iPhone 4 at 5.1 with 4.12.01 baseband. She is unlocked via SAM.

The redsn0w jailbreak is tethered. I would like to be untethered, and there is an 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak. Can I upgrade to 5.1.1 via absinthe and keep my unlock?

Here is one think I DO know- I did a clean upgrade to 5.1.1 once, and once there, I could not get SAM to run...I had to do a downgrade to 5.1 to get SAM to run. I guess what I mean is can an upgrade (as opposed to a clean install) with SAM in place work... (the clean upgrade had SAM removed, obviously!)

You have to have saved the Lockdown folder when the SAM unlock was working.
Upgrade to 5.1.1, then replace the lockdown folder with the one you saved.

I would like to confirm one thing before I do something that might be irreversible...

I take my jailbroken and unlocked 5.1 iphone four and just have iTunes do a refular upgrade- is that right? I do not have to do any baseband strip in redsn0w or anything? I will be OK?
