Does anyone know how to mix surround sound? or is soundtrack not able to do this yet.
I recenty bought Final cut studio and was under the impression that soundtrack pro will mix 5.1 but I can't seem to figure out how

It does support multi-channel output interfaces, but as far as I can tell, there's no dedicated surround mixing tools inside Soundtrack.

You'd need to send the audio as separate streams to a hardware surround-capable mixer.

Alternatively, you could bounce the completed audio streams into Logic and mix to 5.1 from there.

I'll keep looking, but I'm not hopeful.

I'm interest also in using SP to create 5.1 mixes. The best examples of mixes comes from your own DVD library of Hollywood movies. Use dec2ac3 or similar program to rip the 5.1 mixes from most DVDs. And then you can split the audio to their respective aiff files. From there, import these into FCP or SP and audition each channel to see how they do their mixes. Good stuff.
