My Mac Mini HTPC is connected to my AV receiver via toslink optical cable. I can watch movies in iTunes with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound but I have to switch the audio channel from "English (Stereo)" to "English (Surround)" at the beginning of every movie. Is there anyway to make the Surround audio channel the default one? I hate getting halfway into a movie and realizing it is not in 5.1. Thanks.

(Please don't offer suggestions about using VLC or Plex. I have tried them and prefer to stick with iTunes as media manager.)

Unfortunately, iTunes is pretty lame for video playback. I don't know if using QT Pro to set the DD track as default would do it, but then you'd be stuck with static if you use an analog amp until you switched it. What's particularly strange is that the ATV automatically detects an optical or HDMI connection and switches to the DD track.
