I'm looking to get a set of 5.1 speakers to use with my MBP and TV. I'm looking in to the Logitech z 5500 and 5300 but does anyone have suggestions for anything cheaper that's still good quality? They need to work with just the internal MBP sound card too...

Hmmm you might be right, I'm not savvy enough to know the difference for audio. I know that when you go digital to analog in video you can lose quality but will the same happen with audio?

Creative makes a USB to 5.1 sound adapter I believe...

Ahh yes, here it is

Here

Looks like the best/easiest/most affordable option.

There's also an expresscard adapter and then you have to add a 5.1 upgrader to that, which will be bulky, inconvenient and twice as much

At least USB can just unplug easily when you take your MBP out.

EDIT: Sorry, I just realized it only works with Windows. I only thought of it because my friend with a windows laptop has one......*throws up*

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually just ended up with the logitech z5500s for $135 off craigslist. I thought it was a good deal...
