5 month old 13" mbp - lags a lot in MS word?

My girlfriend and I both have the new 13" mbp and we both notice that they often lag a lot in MS word while typing. They are the bottom end models, upgraded to 4 gigs of ram.

My CPU usage will be low, and my ram usage will be around 65%, and still i'll get a big delay between typing and the letters appearing in MS word.

Anyone know WHY this might be? I've used ONYX to clean things up before and that never helped.

Which version of Office are you using? 2004 or 2008?

I've had this happen once or twice with 08 before.

Clear up your hard drive. If your drive is over 75% full you will see a decrease in most programs.

Use Onyx and clean your cache for everything.

See if you have any programs open that could be eating memory up, or if you have a lot of programs open.

Buy more ram if you are running more programs than 5 months ago.

Repair permissions using Onyx

Save your documents/templates and reinstall Office 2008

Backup your photos, sensitive data and perform a reinstall of OSX.

Throw noodles at the screen, preferably not Panda Express.

If none of that increases the snappiness of Word, then just do what I do.
Curse Microsoft, Facepalm, and shake your fist in the air! Why I oughtta!

office is slow to startup, but once going, it's not too bad.

I am also curious which version you are using.

Also, do you run the Microsoft update ? They often update office and make it perform better. Especially the early release of Office 2008 was dreadful and it's a lot better now.

Otherwise, try some of the other suggestions.

good space left on hard drive ? you could also try reinstalling it.

I have office 2008. I will try updating again.

My hard drive is also 95% full... I just bought a 320 gig seagate 7200.4 so hopefully that will help a bit (I got it for about $60 canadian on sale so that is why i choose seagate over the better WD drives).

This is just to tide me over until the intel SSD's drop down to $2 per gig or less.

I would try and free some space up. See what happens. : )

95% full is not good. Also, keep it updated.

If you have less then 4 gig I'd recommend you upgrade that and definitely free up space and/or get a new larger HD
