Is the storage (I.e. 16gb, 32gb etc) for any 5 phone model located on the mother/logic board? ALSO are all or any 5 models interchangeable?

Would a mother/logic board from any 6 model fit into any 5 model? Since they've changed the physical design of the phone I'm taking not but who knows!
I was told a battery from a 5 connector would not fit a 5c and it did soo (I know battery life etc isn't as good) but it fit! It was a temporary set up though while I waited for a replacement.
