Any particular reason for this?? The UK store says 5 weeks for this custom option. Surely Apple have been buying up plenty of these cards and fitted hundreds of machines with them ready for this day?

Maybe they've all gone already?!
 
the 8800gt was sold out in the pc world since it was launched. i guess apple has to wait before these cards come available like everyone else.
 
interesting since the upgrade 8800 that the UK store listed shipping time as 8 days or something.
 
Newegg seems to have plenty of PC-compatible 8800GTs available for sale.

I am guessing Apple uses a custom card and there is a delay in getting them manufactured.

Also, looks like there was a more powerful ATI option that was pulled at the last moment.
