Just got my new Macbook setup in. My laptop for the past 5 years has been a 2007 Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo. Whatever, it was ok for watching videos on youtube and browsing the web.

Now for a studio set-up, I decided to grab a brand new 2.2 i7 (Put in a 2nd harddrive to compliment the SSD and 16gb of ram.) along with the 27" thunderbolt display.

Much to my dismay, just running small tasks has this thing running like a powerplant. It's exactly the same as my 5 year old Macbook Pro, fans going nuts after opening a few tabs or watching too many videos for too long. Pretty annoying. I expected the Macbooks to be quieter now. More powerful, so requiring less processing power making less heat.

Not only that, but trying to open a video on fullscreen on the thunderbolt display REALLY doesn't make the Macbook happy. And it can't actually run videos from youtube in full screen. They start to lag. Pretty amazed that a brand new laptop with an i7 quad core and a 6000 series mobile gpu can't handle running a full screen youtube video.
