Yes, macbooks take 2.5" SATA hard drives.

As to their capacity limit, I'm not sure.

yes but thats not all...not all 2.5" HDs are made equal, some are taller than others, and thsoe will not fit, such as the 500gb one, i think i heard samsung is coming out with a shorter drive in a few weeks that will fit

what drive in paticular are you looking at?

Size is generally determined by capacity. :)

At present the only 500GB 2.5 drive is 12.5mm thick so therefore wont fit
someone posted a link to a site were you could bodge it in.The largest drive
currently available is the WD scorpio 320GB 2.5 drive its 9.5mm thick so it will
fit.Samsung are bringing a 9.5mm 500GB next month

the 2.5" 500g that will fit ur Macbook is not available in the market, the largest 2.5" is 320g by WD and Samsung. I believe Samsung will be coming out w/ 500g. soon........
