500 GB FW800 vs 1 TB USB 2.0 for Time machine

Hi there

Im looking for a new stable portable hard drive, but i have a question:

Should i go for a 500 GB FW800 Iomega eGo for Mac, or should i go for the 1 TB USB 2.0 WD My Passport Essential SE? (What is the difference between the My Passport Essential Se and the My Passport SE for Mac? Can i use the Mac version on a Windows, and the USB 3.0 version on my Mac?)

Im only using my computer for surfing the net, Word Docs, Music and school stuff :)
