I'm considering upgrading my stock 320gb 5400rpm drive to a 500gb 7200rpm drive.

How much of a noise/vibration increase should I expect?
I'm sure it depends on the drive, of course, but on average...
Are any models of NO noise/vibration increase?

What about more heat? Does that become an issue?

Lastly, how does the rpm upgrade affect battery power consumption? Or does it not?

Thanks for any info...

The only 500GB 7200RPM drive available is the Seagate and more information can be found in this thread:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/643119/

I read some of that thread at one point and even asked my questions in it, but nobody answered them.

I wasn't aware that Seagate had the only 500gb 7200rpm drive, though.

If anyone has that drive and cares to offer some definitive info on how it compares to the stock 5400rpm in relation to noise, vibration, heat, and power consumption, it would be appreciated.

I imagine that there would probably be a slight noise and/or vibration increase... I'm mostly wondering about the power consumption...whether or not it's affected, and if so, by how much.
