Guys, I'm not entirely sure what happened here... or whether the issues is with the G-Drive i bought or a Bug in the Time Machine software...
The G-drive was plugged into my FW800 port as usual on my Macbook Pro, and I noticed that the drive had gone to sleep. The Mac tried running an automated time machine backup, but the drive didn't wake up.
Noticing the problem, I cancelled the time machine backup
It was still "asleep" when I unmounted it, powered it down, and re-mounted it.
And that's when I noticed about 100GB of files missing from the drive!!!
Mostly they were my old backups, and I haven't had time to go through and look into what else may have been lost, but I'm really worried right now... :/
This is not good news. At all. Does anyone know if this is an OS X bug or an Issue with the G-drives? I don't feel comfortable knowing that my machines may erase themselves at any given moment
