I want to replace my hard drive for a bigger one
I am thinking about

Seagate
Momentus 500GB 16MB 7200RPM Sata II
The ST9500420AS And NOT the ASG one, I know the g-shock issue....

Or maybe
Western Digital
‏Scorpio 500GB 8MB 5400RPM Sata
WD5000BEVT

Mainly i use my mac for music production so it has to be quiet.
you think the Seagate makes more noise and vibration form the wd one?

Any suggestions?:)

If you want a quieter one, I guess 500 GB Scorpio Blue will be the one. If you want a slightly faster one, then go with Seagate.

Btw, you might wanna check out the newest, 640 GB Scorpio Blue that came out just recently tho. It's probably slightly faster than the 500 GB version. I don't know about the noise and vibration - try to look for some reviews (if there are any yet).

iAgree. It's either one of the 2 Scorpios or the faster Seagate, although I would personally recommend the WD drives because the 7200 RPM Seagate gives slightly less battery life and is more likely to have vibration problems.

I had the AS in my old MBP and it did the clicking thing. Annoyed the heck out of me!

Seagate

500GB 7200 RPM Seagate if you're smart

160GB Intel X25-M if you're smart and have deep pockets.

I have both the 320GB 7200 RPM WD and 500GB Seagate in my Macbook Pro at the moment.

Hitachi

Go Hitachi,

I say this after going through 2 WD Scorpio Blues, both sounded like a wind tunnel and the clicking can get aggravating . The air noise is loud either in the MBP or in external case.

The stock Hitachi 320 is silent in my system
