Hi,

My 13" MacBook Pro is arriving today. I'm buying this Western Digital Scorpio Blue HDD, I'm pretty certain it's the best for my needs (do not want 7200rpm, for noise, heat and decreased battery life fears).

Anyway, will this enclosure be suitable for the drive I'm taking out of the MacBook Pro. I know it's only USB, but firewire 800 ones are in excess of £40, and I just can't afford that. If anyone knows of a firewire 800 one for circa £20 then let me know, but I don't want to spend more than that, and I've had no look finding any.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

The enclosure should be fine
I did the same thing with my older 17" MBP

You will love the Scorpio Blue

Well I've ordered, can't afford to hang around. It's a shame firewire 800 enclosures are so expensive, I'm upgrading from a unibody MacBook to a 13" MBP, and I don't have any firewire peripherals, and think I should get some so next time Apple axe firewire I can come and aimlessly whine on here :p

For occasional use the USB 2 will be fine
Firewire 800 is definitely quicker, but more expensive
Probably not worth the cost unless you plan to use it heavily
