I believe that hard drive only fits the MBP 17", although it is possible to fit it in a 15" MBP.

Nope, it is 9.5mm which fits the macbook and the 15 inch macbook pro. The previous 500gb Hitachi hard drive was 12mm, thats that one that wouldn't fit

sorry, I thought the only 500gb available was a 12.5mm!

That was the Hitachi drive which is 3 platter; the Samsung 500GB is 2 platter, higher density; faster access.

And I just ordered one :D Need something to buy from the money I got back from that SSD that just broke on me. And it's overnight! Can't wait for the thing to become available!

man that's so tempting but the price is a little much for me. i was thinking it be in the $250 range since the 5k320 is only like $150 at newegg. maybe i'll just wait til the 7k320 comes out and see how much that is gonna cost.

I'd still be weary the quality of Samsung drives...they just aren't the brand of choice you hear when people mention storage..

I just installed this drive in my new MBP. Awesome drive! Quiet, cool, and lots of storage. I have seen no noticeable impact on battery life. I have this thing filled up halfway, and it will fill up in no time as I add more movies and TV shows to iTunes. Now just to wait for 1TB drives!

luckily owc doesnt employ warranty seals on their external drives, so you can just put the hard drive back in if it dies.

I just bought their kit for upgrading a notebook computer. They ship the drive and enclosure separately in the same box. So no problem with warranty.

Really? Thats funny, I was just bragging to someone how Samsung is the only brand of hard drive that has never failed me. I even go out of my way to buy one when I can. I love Samsung drives. Had several that lasted me for years while I had all the other big brands fail me left and right.

Yea, I've never had problems with any of my Samsung drives. Not to mention that Samsung is the ONLY manufacturer that currently offers 500gb in a 9.5mm form factor.

This drive is amazing. I got one, and it's much better than any Hitachi/Seagate HD that I've gotten before.

HIGHLY recommended

If the HDD dies, you send it back to Samsung who offers the warranty, not OWC.
