this picture has negative black (the blacks are shimmery and shiny)

I APPRECIATE IT!

negative black is like where your blacks are flipped (negative like an x-ray). To me, it's a defective lcd panel because if you're watching a dark film or anything with black areas, it looks terrible and not like it should...

Agreed....this is a good test I'd like to see.

Should be fourth and fifth digits of the Serial # indicating the week number (of the year).

But I dunno if it will be the same with iPhone 3G..

considering what the original negative black thread was like in terms of length and duration...if the 3G has any negative black issues....god help us all!

No issues with my 3G display - it is fantastic and far better than my 2.5G's display

i bought three iphone 3g's yesterday, two 8gb for my dad and brother, and one black 16gb for myself.

None of them have negative black... also, while I was waiting in line yesterday, i went to the kiosk to play the demo units, and none of them (at a quick glance) had negative black..

I'm glad to say I don't think the issue has carried over to the iPhone 3G

What a big sigh of relief!

No Issue

Thanks for providing the link for the test. No stuck or dead pixels on all tests. Very happy with new iPhone 3G LCD screen.

No negative black issue. Background picture and icons are still quite visible even when the screen become dimmed before power off.

Done the tests - seems fine - no stuck/dead pixels. The first black test showed a gray box in the middle compared to the black background

:(

Hi there,

I do unfortunatly have an 8GB unit that suffers from the "negative black" issue, would post pictures but no camera to hand. How did it get resolved with the last batch? Is it a hardware fault?

Any advice would be great.

I have several dead pixels and I am having problems with the negative black screen. I purchased the 16g black 3g and also the screen has a yellow tint. It doesn't seem as crisp as my 2g iphone.
