I wanted to take the SIM tray out of my iPhone 3G just to check the SIM card out. It slightly wears out the area around the hole on the SIM tray to do that, it looks exactly what would happen to cheap plastic. Did anyone else remove the SIM card from their iPhone 3G? Which color is it? Does it look a little weared out after doing that? I'm a little pissed off, I just got my iPhone 3G and if I want to take out the SIM tray, I have to wear it out a little? Is the plastic really that cheap...?

BTW, hey guys! I've been reading MacRumors for a long time, and I finally decided to register. I've had a first-gen iPhone since it came out and my black 16GB iPhone 3G since Saturday. I post on a few other Apple forums, but I haven't posted here until now!

The black looks sick, but I'm sure the plastic will wear out the same on both, with it being a little bit more apparent on the black iPhone.

Do you guys think that there's any way that Apple will let me swap out just the SIM tray for a new tray? Everything else about my iPhone 3G is almost flawless, and I wouldn't want to swap out the whole phone for this. I think that the SIM tray is made out of cheaper plastic than the rest of the phone, which is noticable when you take the tray out. Here's my advice: DON'T TAKE THE SIM TRAY OUT! You'll probably regret it afterwards, like me...
