I've been noticing that my MBP SR has lately been getting really hot on the base that it burns my fingers to touch it!
I checked my istat and ti came out with the following:
CPU A: 82
GPU Diode: 72
GPU Heatsink: 69
Heatsink A: 64
Heatsink B: 48
Enclosure Base: 39
Mem Controller: 44
Airport Card: 47

Left fan: 2243rpm
Right fan:2248rpm

Is this unusually high? I've never noticed it get this hot before and don't want my legs to melt!

Depends on what you are doing, if thats while surfing its bad, but while gaming f.ex its normal.

After surfing for 40 mins now my GPU is @ 42 C

surfing but with flash video absorbing 70-odd% on both cores. calmed down a bit now but as i said it's just seemed hotter than usual lately.. anyways, will check the other threads, apologies.

How is 82ºC for the CPU considered normal? I mean sure it might be like that with compiling or encoding, but normally that's not normal.

I thought it inordinately high.. as i said, it quite literally burnt my fingers to hold them against the base and, correct me if i'm wrong but aren't the fans whirring at a rather low-speed considering the high temps? I mean currently while my cpu is sat at 40, my fans are only 250rpm behind what they were at when my cpu was double the temp.. it just doesn't seem to add-up.. any ideas how i could further diagnose the problem?
