I am uploading High def video of scenes I shot around NYC today and want to take the volume out of the video and overdub with music clips I made in garageband? is this possible? additionally, I'd like to be able to fade in parts of the actual sound from certain clips of the video while the music is still playing, is that possible too?

On the horizontal bar across the middle, press the 3rd button- the one that looks like a speaker with a soundwave next to it:

Then you get this menu:

And you can fade-in and out, raise, lower or wipe out the sound altogether- lots of options. Have a quick play with it on a test project then you can get to grips with it properly.

Hope this helps- was I right? What do I win? :D

I'm wondering the same thing, but I'd like to mute my ENTIRE project. Not each individual clip, i have a lot of clips and that would take really long!!

I've hit :apple: -A to select all my clips and select the adjust audio button, but that only does it for my first clip....

any ideas?
thank you!!

i got it!

I didn't really add the music track as "background music", i added it like a sound byte. So i selected it, and modified the "ducking" setting to 0%.

Audio not muting for different export sizes...

If I export my project as "mobile, medium or Lrg" the sound on the clips is muted (which I want), but if I Export "using quicktime" for highest quality (largest size) .AVI or .MOV, those same clips now are NOT muted. I went to each individual clip and reduced the volume to 0, but 'nat' sounds are still there...any suggestions? (I'm referring to the imovie Trailers)
