I know we have a couple of "cracked housing" threads already, but not with the information we need to see if there is a pattern between Model/Week numbers and if there are cracks.

NOTE: Please, only those who have 3G iPhones should should post in this thread.

If you do post, post ONLY your Week Number and Model Number and if you have cracks or not. If you do have cracks, please post up the location and number of cracks. Pictures allowed.

You can find the Week Number and Model number by going to Settings/General/About. The week number will be the 4th and 5th number in the Serial number.

Example:
Serial#: 86827Pxxxxx
Week= 27

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will start. Please us the format below:

Week#: 27
Model#: MB705LL
Crack(s): Yes
Location/number: 1 crack between headphone jack and chrome bezel

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) I doubt there is a pattern.
2) https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/525177/

Use the thread that's 15 pages long, and has been featured on front page blogs (like engadget) if you want ti find more info about this. Creating another thread like this just creates confusion.

And how is this official?

Obviously you cant read, and the purpose is to see IF there IS a pattern.

But, since YOU doubt that there's a pattern, then I guess we can all go home and not worry.

Because determining what week the phone is made is going to prove that they crack? They could of been made in different facilities in those weeks. It could just be stress cracks already. Just because lets say a week 27 iPhone has a crack on its back won't mean all week 27's will have a crack on their back today, tomorrow, or ever.

That's why i linked to that other thread. That thread is already established and posted in, why do you need another one that just includes the week and model number in the post? Not to mention, most people mentioned it already in the other thread.

1) People in that thread are requesting that we provide week/model # info. Obviously there is a reason for that.

2) Some with & without cracks aren't or haven't yet posted the info that's been requested.

3) Most of the week/model# info is scattered throughout the 15 pages.

4) The thread is filled with 1st gen iPhone owners spouting the superiority of the aluminum backing on their phone and filing the thread with nonsense.

The purpose of this thread is to put the pertinent, requested, information into one thread, without it being scattered around, and without alot of nonsense filling up the thread. Too bad we failed on that last part already.

Step 4: Go to Step 2 until you are happy.
Step 5: Make a thread with model and week numbers so people can to go the store and say "Does this model have a week 26 shift key?"

There very well might be a pattern, I think the OP has the right idea - I wanted to post this myself.
