I was thinking the same thing. I wish they had a light version of this. Classic example of wanting to try out an app first before plunking down $25 for it. But if it worked well, it would be worth the money.

Wow, it looks nice from the picture and description, but I'm not going to pay $25 to be the first one to try it see if it really works.

I tried going to their website for more details, but it's still under construction.

This looks amazing, but i think I'll wait for a couple people to buy first. Think it would work with a pc as well?

Here's the screenshot they have of it working with Windows:

I don't get why it is so expensive... you can get Mocha VNC FULL version for $6, and it does everything this client does as far as I can tell. Maybe it doesn't look as nice, but I'll vote with my wallet on this one.

Maybe a dumb question, but here it goes:

Does OS X (I'm on Leopard) have a VNC client built in? If I get Teleport, do I need to get additional software for my Macs?

Yes, Tiger and Leopard have this built in. Just go to your system preferences and then... dang, not in front of my Mac at the moment and normally know this off the top of my head(but really having a brain fart right now), but I did it with MochaLite and will be getting Teleport. And yes, it can zoom to any resolution your monitor is set at.

With PCs you'll need something like TightVNC running on your Windows box.

Are you using Teleport? What are your thoughts on it?

I just downloaded it and am syncing right now, I'll let you guys know how it compares to Mocha VNC.. all the reviews say it's way better so I went ahead and took the plung

I bought it this evening.

So far:

1. It crashes, a ton. Several times in a row for me right now, seconds after connection.

2. The mouse/screen movement is the opposite direction of the iphone.

3. The instructions are quite lacking.

4. I gave up on connecting outside of my wi-fi network. I run my computers through a wired/wireless AEBS connected to a Verizon Fios Router/Modem. I could not figure out the port communication, and it is 1:30, so I will save it for another day.

All of that said, this looks REALLY nice. There are going to be growing pains with something like this, and I am confident they will hash them out. This app will pay for itself the first time I need to see or do something on my comp with just the mobile around. For now, I am going put it on the back burner until I can figure the ports out and it becomes a bit more reliable. Anyone know how it will work with spaces? ;)

I looked up the author on google. His webpage is here - he's a final year computer science PhD student at Carnegie Mellon, and he's also the author of a VNC app for jailbroken iPhones (impressive video of that program here).

My little review:

this app is Much better and much more usable than VNC Mocha which is 5.99.

In mocha, for me at least, it clicks where you tap, and you cannot use it as a trackpad. Mocha is laggy, and almost unusable. This app is smooth and works as expected.

This program acts just like Touchpad pro in this respect, it acts exactly like a trackpad, it works flawlessly like this! This is exactly what i'm looking for.

I havedn't had it crash on me at all, but i've only used it for about 5 minutes.

No more taking my wireless keyboard and mouse to the couch to control my laptop when it's hooked up to the hdtv!

Love this app

Just like TouchPadPro

THis is an awesome better than touchpad for Jailbroken Iphones actually it is written by the same guy. well worth the 25$ dollars used as a media remote/keyboard/mouse and as a cross country vnc client for two computers
now if i could just have something to reset my modem while on vacation because it is on the fritz

I would just like to get in line for the begging of a video, screenshots, etc.

I would love to use this check on my home machine when I am out and accidentally left email running. There is a 16 page doc on his site about how to deal with IP's, ISP's etc. Do not think I am up for trying it on my own.

He says he is planning to make a one step addon to make the process easier and should have it out in late August. I guess I could try to be patient.

This app just crashed literally 20x in a row for me while I was trying to show it to someone. This was on my wi-fi network at home.

Is anyone having reliability problems with this? If I am the only one I am going to ask for a refund. I like the concept of the program, but I am not going to pay $25 for a mobile app that does not work.

I wish apple did a version of Remote Desktop for the iphone.

It would help out at least on the mac side of things.

hey man, did you ever find a way to forward your ports?
i've got verizon fios with actiontek router, and i can't believe this is so complicated to achieve?!

any help? thanks

At its simplest all you guys probably have to do is forward TCP port 5900 to your computer running VNC.

Dustin

I read somewhere in the app reviews that security was an issue. Is it really safe to stream your entire computer over the internet with this app? Are there any security features in place? Other than that it looks very nice and i would buy it.
