Okay, this is a thread not for asking others when they think Apple is going to release they're new notebooks (there are already more than enough of those), but rather it is a thread for stating when you think it will happen. The winner can give themselves a smiley.

I predict that the new MBPs will be released (Wed.) Sept. 3 (that Monday is Labor Day in the US and on weeks where Monday is an American holiday Apple tends to make announcements on Wednesday instead of Tuesday.)

My prediction for the MBs is Oct. 20.

Everyone else, feel free to flaunt your large ego with predictions as baseless as mine ;)
 
Macbook Pro updates will be announced the first week of October. Probably on the first Tuesday (10/7). Just in time to ramp up for the holiday season!

As for the Macbook... I don't really care.
 
I estimate MacBook updates to be Tuesday 26th August. Why? Just in time for school AND the UK store has "2 business days" on the current macbooks. Usually they say 24 hours and if they're low in stock they say "1-2 days" or "1-3 days". Why have they included "business" this time?

2 business days from today is Tuesday/Wednesday :)
 
Has to be September. Wasn't there that rumor of a memo from Apple to retailers saying they should buy just enough merchandise to get them through August??

It mean nothing in regards to when the Macbook update is coming out. It's just a way to say that the time period is Monday through Friday when business' are normally open. That means no weekends.

By the way... it's extremely doubtful that the Macbooks will be updated before the school promotion ends on the 15th. They could introduce a new machine that isn't part of the promotion... but I doubt they will to that either.

September 30 if they aren't updated at the iPod event or the week before. A number of Apple products have been updated at the end of a month.

I can see the MacBooks and MacBook Pros updated the week before the event, and the MacBook Air updated at the end of September. I can also see the reverse happening.
 
Popular consensus in the MBP forums seem to be September 16th for the 3 upcoming updates: Macbook, Macbook Pro and iPod. It's a tuesday, and it's the day after the back to school promo ends. Also because retailers were informed that there would be limited supplies of MBs, MBPs and iPods through August, one must assume that they would hit stores in early to mid september.
 
I'll say Sept 30, at the earliest. This will be just past two weeks from the end of the school promo. This will help eliminate people bitching about new ones being available and wanting to exchange.

I thought the last time new Macs came out during the back-to-school promotion, they were part of it, but when new iPods came out the iPods weren't (because the promotion lists specific model numbers for which iPods you can get.) Am I wrong?
 
September 9th :) Hopefully, this will be the day, so we can gauge is the new stuff is worth the extra dough, or if the Student iPod promo is the better buy.
 
i am going to go with September 9th hopefully. i need the update to be soon before a cant take it anymore and buy a macbook pro or macbook
