Basically i have a backup of my old imac HD on a usb HD and want to retrieve some files from it but can't with osx as it doesn't recognize that there is a file system there so it pops up with ignore or initialize and can't on ubuntu due not having the right permissions but i can see the osx file structure and can access some files so is there a way i can change the permissions of the usb HD in ubuntu? or would diskwarrior repair it so osx would recognize it as a hfs formatted hard disk?

thanks

Plug in your usb drive into your Mac and open up Disk Utility. How is it formatted?

A better question I sould have asked is, do you have a machine running 10.3, 10.4 or 10.5?
