I purchased the iPhone 2.1 Software Update for my 2G iPod touch. I'm not sure it was necessary.

I tried to follow the download & install instructions via iTunes. However, I'm not sure it got installed.

I contacted Apple customer support, & they said that based on the 2.1.1 software version number on my iTouch, it was installed.

Is this correct, or is there a way a can confirm for sure that it's installed?

It says version 2.1.1 (5F138).

I don't know if this is the delivered version or the updated version.

Umm, how did you buy the update for your 2g? All ipods that ship (including 1g now i believe) come with the 2.0 software. You should have not had to pay for that, and 2.1.1 is the latest for 2G, 2.1.0 is for 1g at the moment i believe

It's listed on the apple store website on the 2G ipod touch web page.

http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/

It shouldn't be on the web page, for purchase, if it's included.

I'm trying to determine if I paid for something I already had.

Yes, you paid for something you already had. All the 2g touches come with 2.1.1 already. Get a refund.
